Hello, and welcome to The Children's Center summer camp program for 2017. We hope this letter finds you and your family well. As we begin the new season, we would like to welcome all of our new summer families and would also like to extend a great welcome back to each of our alumni families! As our camp population grows, we are excited to meet the interests of all campers with newly improved programming. Our qualified staff will do their best to introduce your children to visual arts, athletics, performing arts, fitness, technology, adventure and more. The dedicated staff at The Children's Center is looking forward to having another great season.

Please make sure you fill out all your forms and return them before camp begins. When you return your forms please include a school photo of your child so that we can have it in our emergency book. Your child may not attend camp unless you have completed your enrollment and medical forms. Last year's forms are not acceptable to admit your child to camp. All post office mail should be addressed to:

The Children’s Center, P.O. Box 18, Boonton, NJ 07005

If your child is out for the day, please call us to let us know--especially if we are leaving early on a trip. The summer program closes at 6:15pm each night. If you are running late, please call us to let us know. Our late fee is $10.00 for each 5 minutes you're late. We will stay with your child until pick-up. Payment is expected at pick-up time. If you need to send someone in your place, we need to know ahead of time. There is a spot on the enrollment for you to let us know all persons who have permission to pick up your child. Children will not be released to anyone not on list or provided in writing or text. Please note that all persons must show ID.

If your child should require medication at camp, you must speak with the director to discuss your child's needs. There is an additional form that has to be completed before your child begins camp. If your child is out of camp more than two days for any illness, you must inform us of their condition. If they have been contagious, the state requires you to submit a doctor's note in order to return to camp.

Don't forget to visit our Parent Place for all the information you will need for the summer. Located at the site, the Parent Place will have continuing information regarding your child and their camp experience. Your child will be signed in each morning by our staff, and you must sign them out each night with the time at pickup. The sign out sheet will be at the parent area or with the director.

Please check your calendar, which is available every two weeks at camp or online. It will inform you of all the happenings at camp.

You are to send your child to camp with a bathing suit, towel, and water shoes each day, as we have daily splash time. Please apply sun block in the morning and we will re-apply sun block to your child when necessary. Send a labeled container of sun block and we will keep it for you at camp. We find the spray type is the best. Your child also needs to bring a labeled water bottle to camp every day. We will be happy to fill the bottle all day for them. Water bottles are necessary at camp.

Please pack a lunch in a labeled plastic zipper bag. Encourage your child to bring the bag home each day. We will put lunches in coolers with ice packs that keep them cool. We have a cooler especially for your child's water bottles. If you need something refrigerated we can accommodate you. We provide two snacks each day and your child may also bring in snacks each day. Some days we will have an optional hot lunch offered at an additional cost. Every Wednesday, we have ice cream for sale at $1.00. Please remember to inform us of any food allergy, as we serve many different types of food.

We are excited to be able to give your child two different types of swimming programs! Both swim areas meet all state requirements and supply guards. Both have diving boards and may be available to your child. Children 8 and older with written parent permission (form at Parent Place) may be able jump off the boards. We are returning again to Lake Hiawatha Swim Club on Fridays. We have a section of the pool just for our campers and staff. The second water area is PV Park Pompton Plans. This is a spring-fed lake with a picnic area, volleyball, snack bar, and a roped area just for our campers. We will spend all day at the site. Outside showers are available as well as the snack bar to buy lunch or snack. We have the menu available for you. We ask that if your child can't swim that you inform us and you supply a life jacket as children wonder in water deeper then they can handle and we feel better knowing which children can’t swim and we can keep an eye on them.

Back by popular demand: the 2017 summer program will host Traveling Kids. Children who are selected and entering 6th grade and above in September will be able to travel on local trips with their peers. This is an exciting program and a signed parent/child/counselor agreement will be needed. This program will begin week #3 of summer camp and the trips have additional costs. More info to follow if you're interested.

We are very active with community projects as we continue to lead the children into the future by reminding each other how important it is to help each other. We will ask for different types of donations. If you can help, thank you. If not, there may be other ways in which you can contribute to your child's summer fun. This year we are proud to be able to do several community projects with the children and the following:

• Alex's Lemonade Stand
• Boonton Retired Fireman's Home
• The Diaper Bank at Child and Family Resources
• Local animal shelters

Other Info

We do take photos of the children for camp use and social media. If for any reason you don't want your child photograph on display, you must inform us in writing. Otherwise, we assume that it is okay to take photos. No names will ever be used.

We offer a summer camp with a conscience. We strive to provide you and your child with a pleasant, adventurous summer. We encourage you to get your child a library card for the summer if you don't already have one as we've planned regular visits to the public libraries.

We hope your child’s summer experience is safe and rewarding for you and your family. If there is anything you need to discuss with us feel free to call anytime or leave a message on the site.
